April: Just Life

Laney reading one of her "Superkids" books about how the kids wanted the dog Golly to pretend to be a camel.

Just after James turned one year, we threw away a lot of his baby stuff that I had been using since Laney. Bottles and the bumbo seat sat in our kitchen for a few days before I could actually throw it all out. I was really excited to start the next stage of his life, but it's like saying goodbye to a part of my identity. Never again will I be pregnant or a mom of small babies.
It's a good change, but still, a change.

James wriggled out of the Bumbo, unlike any of the girls did. We were able to borrow a high chair from a friend that straps him in with a smaller chance of escape.

Songs we sing at lunch

This was just a small scrape, but it reminded me of that picture Mom has of me with a band-aid on my forehead.

The girls picked flowers from our neighbor's yard and made some "art" with their bouquets.

First time James played at the sand table.

Laney and Caroline have started playing "married" recently, which really is just a wedding, or what they think a wedding is from my photos and princess movies. One of them always has to concede to playing the prince, but they both get to hold flowers.

Here are some just some precious pictures.

Peek-a-boo during lunch

First time for tacos! Everyone loved them.

Early birthday party for Laney at school. Both Kindergarten classes joined in her room to sing and listen to her favorite book (I read Mustache Baby). Mrs. Frank even gave her a birthday spanking and some kisses. I love private schools.

And then we had ice cream and cookies on the tables right outside their classroom, next to the playground.
Mrs. Frank has a grandson James' age, and loves to hold him any chance she gets.

I love this picture of Caroline. She looks so pretty. And so cute with her little "birdie" perched on her cereal bowl.

And Meredith is just a cutie pie.
